Rory Cowlam

Rory Cowlam, aka Rory the Vet, is a veterinary surgeon, writer and TV presenter. His shows include The Pet Factor and Blue Peter, where he is the resident vet. In 2020 he released his autobiography, The Secret Life of a Vet, which traces his passion for animals back to childhood and gives an insight into the highs and lows of being a vet.

Rehomed a rescue dog

Rory became an ambassador for us in 2020. A few months later, in Adoptober, he took home one of our rescued animals, a lurcher called Nala. With a keen passion for animal welfare, Rory has spoken up on numerous occasions about issues such as ear cropping, brachycephalic breeds, and the benefits of adopting rescue animals.

He's represented us in events such as running the London Marathon, running The Best Paw Forward (a 26.2 mile challenge) event during Covid and has presented at the RSPCA Honours awards, which celebrates people who have gone above and beyond to help animals in need.

"I could not be prouder to be an ambassador for the RSPCA. The work they do is essential and I’m proud to stand alongside the charity, supporting their animal welfare work however I can."
