Bigging up black cats this Halloween
28.10.11
With magic and enchantment in the air this Halloween, we’re appealing to anyone thinking of adopting a cat to consider one of the many bewitching black cats in our care.
In UK folklore, black cats symbolise good luck, yet sadly in reality they are not so lucky.
Black cats are often overlooked by potential adopters in favour of their more colourful feline friends and spend much longer in our care.
So this Halloween, and in support of Cats Protection's Black Cat Awareness Day (Thursday, 27 October), we're highlighting the plight of black cats in a bid to change their luck and find them happy, new homes.
Black cats looking for new homes
We have hundreds of black cats looking for new homes at our branches and animal centres across England and Wales.
Here is just a very small selection of them...
Brothers Magic and Sable, pictured left with their sister Indie who has happily been rehomed, are two gorgeous 12-week-old kittens in the care of our Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire Branch.
Tamsin is a stunning long-haired black cat who is around four years old and in the care of our Cardiff and District Branch.
She is a real sweetie and would make a perfect lap cat.
Chester is a blind black cat aged between one and two years old in the care of our Gloucester City and District Branch.
He is a very clever boy, using his whiskers to guide him, and would make an ideal house cat.
Pagan, Paloma and Lola are three very cute four-month-old kittens in the care of our Middlesex North West Branch.
These girls are a little shy at the moment - nothing some love and attention won't cure.
They can be rehomed as a group or separately.
Tyler is a handsome long-haired black cat who is approximately four years old and in the care of our Bolton Branch.
He is a good all-rounder and would make a perfect family pet.
