A young cat, which either fell or was pushed from a 12th floor West Midlands tower block, is slowly recovering in our care.

A resident of Hackwood House in Hartlebury Road, Oldbury, called us on Sunday, 5 June after the cat hit their window on the third floor of the flats before falling to the ground. When they went outside, the cat was bleeding and in an obvious state of extreme shock.

Collected by our officer, Susie Bailey, the female tabby-and-white cat was unable to move her legs leading to fears she had been severely injured.

Recovering well in our care

After much tender loving care at Birmingham Animal Hospital, the cat, named Everest by our staff, is improving every day and remarkably she only sustained one fracture – a broken tooth. Collecting officer, Susie, said:

When I collected the cat she was in a lot of pain and was petrified. Because of the distance she fell added to the fact she couldn’t stand, I feared she might not survive.

I am so glad she has proved me wrong and is getting stronger every day and staff at the hospital hope that, given time, she will fully recover.

Appeal for information

Susie has made enquiries locally and put posters up in the area but has had no further information. She said:

I believed she fell from between the sixth and twelfth floor of the flats and it is possible that it wasn’t accidental.

I urge anyone with information to contact me, particularly if they know who owns the cat. We believe she is only about seven months old and she was wearing a collar which indicates she is an owned cat.

Anyone with information about who owns Everest and what happened to her can call our national cruelty line on 0300 1234 999.
