Gemma joined the RSPCA in 2023 as the Assistant Director of Policy, Advocacy and Evidence. She is responsible for the Society’s Science and Policy departments, as well as the RSPCA’s thought leadership work like the Kindness Index, Animal Welfare Evidence Centre and Animal Futures.
The RSCPA’s policy and advocacy work aims to generate evidence-based research and policy positions which are used to advocate for government policies which improve the welfare of millions of animals across England and Wales. Prior to the RSPCA, Gemma led the policy, public affairs and campaigns functions at disability charities Leonard Cheshire and Shaw Trust, working to tackle social exclusion and to champion the rights of disabled people.
