Dr Marc Cooper

Head of Farm Animals

Marc is currently Head of Farm Animals at the RSPCA and has worked within the RSPCA’s Farm Animals Department since 2004. He is a trained animal welfare scientist, holding a PhD in animal behaviour and welfare, a MSc in Animal Production and a BSc in Animal Science. Marc has worked hands-on in the field of general farm animal production and welfare since 1989.  

At the RSPCA, he provides scientific and technical information and advice on farm animal welfare matters and is responsible for overseeing the development of the RSPCA’s species specific higher welfare standards. Marc is a representative on various external governmental and non-governmental consultative groups and committees in the UK and overseas, and has represented Eurogroup for Animals at European Government level meetings. He has spoken at workshops and conferences around the world and has had work published in a range of scientific journals relating to farm animal welfare.
