RSPCA officer rescues trapped horse

17.11.12

We have released video footage of an RSPCA inspector cutting a horse free from a broken fence in south Wales.

On Monday, 22 October Inspector Neill Manley was called out to untangle a horse caught up in wire near the Taff Trail in Abercanaid, Merthyr Tydfil.

The wire was wrapped around the animal's neck and legs but Inspector Manley managed to cut him free and the lucky horse successfully rejoined his herd uninjured.

RSPCA Inspector Neill Manley said:

This is a reminder to all landowners that they need to ensure that their land is clear of hazardous objects.

This fence needs repairing before other animals find themselves in the same predicament.

Horses are curious by nature and this could have been a lot worse had it been barbed wire.
