A female moggie currently in RSPCA care at Birmingham Animal Centre has had an eventful start to the year.
The adult black cat hitched a ride under the bonnet of a car on 1 January from Tile Cross in Birmingham to Whittington near Lichfield. The cat's cries alerted the member of the public to the stowaway, who was taken to vets in Tamworth to be checked over.
Remarkably, other than scuffed nails and a chipped tooth, the cat was unscathed after her unplanned journey. We collected her from the vets, and the cat is now in the cattery at Barnes Hill.
Animal centre manager, Jackie Lines said:
"Trillian has been with us since the middle of January. She is a friendly girl and enjoys her fuss but equally loves nothing more than napping in her bed.
"It is very sad that she was not microchipped as we have no way of knowing if she was an owned cat.
"We would recommend all cat owners have their pets microchipped as it is the most effective way of being reunited with a missing pet. Cats are so independent and love to roam and, as is in this case, can end up miles from home."
Jackie added:
If Trillian had been chipped she would now be curled up in her cat bed at home rather than in a cattery.
Anyone who believes Trillian to be their missing moggie or who is interested in offering her a home can call Birmingham Animal Centre on 0300 123 0754.
Microchipping your pet gives it the best chance of being identified and returned to you if it gets lost or stolen.
