We're at the forefront of a new way for charities to raise vital funds by linking in with the ground-breaking new film, Life in a Day, directed by Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald and executive produced by Sir Ridley Scott (Alien, Bladerunner).

Shot on a single day (Saturday, 24 July 2010), the film captures user-generated footage from literally thousands of people around the world. More than 80,000 videos were submitted from 197 countries; from Australia to Zambia, Peru to the Ukraine, Japan to the UK.

In an innovative move which mirrors the inclusive way the film was made, people can buy tickets and raise money for the RSPCA at the same time.

A whopping 25 per cent of each ticket sold online directly through our dedicated website - www.lifeinadayuk.me/rspca - will go towards our vital work for animal welfare.

Paul Littlefair, head of RSPCA external affairs, said:

The filmmakers were kind enough to approach the RSPCA and ask if we would like to be a part of this fantastic opportunity.

In the spirit of the film, which is about bringing people together from all over the world, the RSPCA will be using the funds raised specifically to help our international and farm animal welfare work.

About our international work

With over 150 years of international experience, our overseas work today includes programmes in Europe, East Asia and southern Africa.

Recently we have worked to bring in the first draft animal welfare laws in China, and provided emergency relief following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010.

Our international achievements include the following.

  • Emergency response across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Central and South America.

  • Work on projects, aid and training in over 50 countries helping animals and people within society, agriculture, industry and the environment.

  • Protecting human health and livelihoods alongside animal health and welfare through programmes in southern Africa aimed at rabies prevention and protection of village poultry flocks.

  • Contributing towards stronger European Union (EU) animal welfare legislation and assisting candidate countries for EU membership achieve requisite standards of animal welfare.

We live in a changing world where increasingly and inextricably animal welfare and human welfare are linked.

By supporting this film, we can continue to help animals – and humans – all over the world.
