Happy ending for dog beaten on Somerset high street

Rossi is now in a loving new home
A dog beaten by his former owner in front of Taunton shoppers now has a loving new family after they saw his story on the local news.
Rossi was being cared for at RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre in Taunton when Jayne Fakir saw the dog’s story on the local news earlier this month. The family immediately rang the centre and offered Rossi a new home.
Jayne’s husband, Rustum Fakir, described how Rossi is settling into the family. He said:
Rossi’s very playful and likes to play football with my son, Jaide. Those two are like brothers, they are so close. Rossi comes to watch Jaide play cricket with me.
I take him for a morning and an evening walk, and at weekends, and we always go for a run around or we go to the beach.
Rossi’s a very happy boy; he’s doing perfectly fine.
Rustum Fakir is an experienced Staffordshire bull terrier owner and had several dogs when he lived in South Africa before he relocated to the UK.
Previous owner prosecuted
We prosecuted Rossi’s previous owner for punching and kicking the dog on Taunton high street in April. The man was later banned from keeping animals for five years.
Rustum Fakir is glad his family could give Rossi the loving home he deserves. Mr Fakir said:
Rossi is such a beautiful dog. Adopting him was the best thing we could have done.
