Environmental sustainability plan development
In 2022 and 2023 we identified our significant environmental issues and environmental legal compliance requirements to establish the RSPCA’s starting point and develop a compliance plan. A double Materiality Assessment in 2023 helped us to prioritise our risks and impacts. The Materiality Assessment and a review of our contribution (positive and negative) to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) guided our focus areas.
In 2024, we enhanced our baseline with energy efficiency audits, finalised our scope 1 and 2 emissions and completed 12 of 13 relevant categories of our scope 3 footprint. We engaged with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our plan reflects our internal colleagues' expert insights and addresses key external concerns.
