Lockwood Centre for Horses & Donkeys
We are an equine centre which rehabilitates and rehomes horses, ponies and donkeys. We also have a resident herd of donkeys who remain in our permanent care. The resident donkeys are: Shaggy, Paddy, Dylan, Dolly, Lassie and Clyde. We also have a shetland called Misty who lives in the donkey barn too, she is an old lady at 25 but is definitely the boss! We have a sponsorship scheme set up for our resident donkeys so that you can be kept updated regulary with what your favourite donkey has been up to!
Please note that we are only open to general visitors between the months of April and October, when you can meet the donkeys every Wednesday or Sunday between 11.00am and 3:30pm.
We have a small shop selling ice creams, gifts and drinks with a small picnic area and benches around site. Unfortunately our 'Donkey Walk' is closed at the moment due to health and safety reasons but we are hoping to open it again very soon.
At 11:30am you can watch the donkeys being groomed and ask any questions you may have. After lunch at 2:30pm we have the very exciting 'Treat Time' where we have all sorts of enrichment for the donkeys. Please bring along any fruit, veg or ginger biscuits you may have as it will not go unnoticed - we and the donkeys appreciate it greatly! (Shaggy would love some Watermelon too!)
