Jasper:
Your rescue update

When we found Jasper, he was hiding under a bed – underweight, in pain and shut down. Because you joined the rescue, we could save him. Now he’s bouncing back and waiting for the forever home he deserves.

Growing in confidence

When Jasper arrived, he was shut down and withdrawn. With time, he’s come out of his shell.

A clever dog with character

Now Jasper is sharp, energetic and full of character. He loves tennis balls, and burying them!

A young dog in desperate need

When RSPCA Inspector Kim Walters arrived at Jasper’s home, she found him lying quietly under a bed. He was dull, lethargic and depressed – not what you’d expect from a young dog. Despite his thick coat, his spine, ribs and hip bones were clearly visible. He also had a badly infected abscess on his neck that had been left untreated.

Kim rushed Jasper to a vet immediately, where they discovered he weighed two-thirds of what he should have. His wound was clipped, cleaned and treated with antibiotics, and he was given pain relief. It was the start of a long road ahead, but Jasper was in safe hands.

Jasper was very weak when he arrived. Now he’s healthy and full of life.

The care your gifts made possible

Jasper’s recovery wasn’t straightforward. He needed his wound cleaned twice a day, a nutrition plan to safely gain weight, and treatment for pressure sores. He also received specialist behaviour support to help him feel settled with his handlers. Now Jasper’s settled in his routines and his playful personality has come shining through.

Waiting for his happy ending

He’s recently moved to another RSPCA animal centre to widen the search for his perfect home. Your support is keeping him happy and safe until he finds it. Thank you for joining the rescue and being there for dogs like Jasper.

When dogs bury their favourite toys, they’re protecting their most prized possessions! It’s a natural instinct inherited from their wild ancestors.
