Leaving dogs on their own
The amount of time it is suitable to leave a dog alone will depend on the individual dog.
Some dogs don’t cope well when left on their own and they may mess indoors, chew things and become destructive, bark, howl and whine. If this happens, you should seek advice from your vet who may refer you to a clinical animal behaviourist. A behaviourist will help you to teach your dog that it is alright to be left alone.
Even if your dog copes well when alone, you should always ensure it has regular and frequent opportunities to go to the toilet.
