We would like to introduce you to RSPCA Southridge Animal Centre, a totally unique animal rescue centre.

About us

Southridge occupies a 16-acre site that nestles in the bottom of a small valley surrounded by the lush green Hertfordshire countryside, and has an air of peace and tranquillity about it. On entering the centre there is an atmosphere of kindness, honesty and cheerfulness.

What we do

Although we have all too often witnessed the true horrors and cruelty that humans subject animals to, it is here that the lengthy process of reversing the damage that has been done begins.

Animals are treated with respect, tenderness and love, and both their physical and mental needs are all met - and animals learn to trust again.

We have the facilities to enable the RSPCA to rescue many different species of animals, and at any one time we are caring for over 250 animals.

Rehoming

We aim to place every animal that walks through our door into new, responsible, kind and caring homes. This rehoming process may take only a few days or it can take many months, the timescale involved depends entirely on two things: firstly the individual animal and the amount of rehabilitation that it needs and secondly its 'appeal factor'.

Young, pedigree, pretty and problem free animals find homes very quickly - it is the older, plainer animals, and animals with emotional baggage or ongoing veterinary conditions that take longer to rehome.

It costs the RSPCA over £1500 a day to run Southridge. We rely on kind donations from people like you.
