Facts and figures
Every year our Putney Animal Hospital treats a large number of owned animals including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, rats, hamsters and reptiles.
However, not all animals arrive at the hospital with an owner and every year a large number of needy animals are admitted. These are not always cats and dogs but can include rabbits, birds, reptiles and amphibians, as well as wildlife casualties such as foxes, water birds, raptors and snakes. The hospital has even been known to admit the odd badger and even a tarantula.
Annually around 20,000 outpatient appointments are made at hospital clinics, and nearly 6,500 animals are admitted into the hospital for operations or nursing.
Funding Putney Animal Hospital
RSPCA animal hospitals provide a low-cost veterinary service, and customer payments for treatment do not cover the full costs involved.
The RSPCA receives no government funding and we depend entirely on the generosity of our supporters to continue with our work protecting and treating animals, including the running of our animal hospitals.
The Friends of Putney RSPCA Animal Hospital is a voluntary group that raises money to support Putney Animal Hospital. Over the years the group has provided better equipment, and improved the facilities, for the animals at the hospital.
In addition to fundraising events and schemes, the Friends of Putney run a shop located next door to the animal hospital in Clarendon Drive, SW15, where pet related goods can be purchased.
The group is always looking for new members, or volunteers to help in the shop. For further details just pop into the shop or write to Angela Cope at the RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital (See contact details above for hospital address).
