Changing the law

We believe that all animals - from pets to lab animals - should have protection from harm, under law.

Our inspectorate investigates complaints concerning animal cruelty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Without laws to protect animals we would not be able to act; rescuing animals who need us most and prosecuting those who deliberately cause them harm.

Through political campaigns, we have helped change laws that improved the lives of thousands of animals. From the Hunting Act to the Animal Welfare Act, what we have achieved has been fantastic, but there is still much more to do!

We continue to advise government about issues that concern us, and you, so that more animals can enjoy a happier life, without suffering. To find out how you can help, take a look at our current campaigns.
