Out and about

We’re best known for our frontline work – carried out by hard-working inspectors, animal welfare officers (AWOs), veterinary staff and animal care assistants. They face daily challenges working with animals and members of the public.

Read their career profiles to find out what they really get up to.

In our 170 branches, staff and countless volunteers work with endless energy and dedication to look after the tens of thousands of animals that come into our care every year.

Behind the scenes

Our national office is a hive of activity. It’s where our animal welfare scientists, press officers, campaigners, fundraisers, chief executive and many others all work together to support our mission.

Our heroes

Our staff, supporters and volunteers are just ordinary people, but many of them are out there doing great things. Find out why we think this makes them our heroes.

The Royal R

Since 1840 we have been proud of our royal patronage. Her Majesty the Queen recognises the work we do for animals in England and Wales, and that our reputation extends worldwide.
