A step back for lab animals?

Watch our new animation to see what a new EU directive, which threatens to weaken UK law, could mean for lab animals in the UK.

The government consultation on how to implement the new EU Directive into a new UK law on animal research and testing has now closed
and we are waiting to hear back from the Home Office on what their plans are. Although the directive could be a good thing for animals in some European countries, standards are higher here in the UK so this could mean a significant step back for animal welfare.

It could mean far fewer official checks on laboratories, some animals suffering long-lasting ‘severe’ pain and distress, and inhumane methods of killing animals being allowed.

We need your help to ensure the government, at the very least, maintains current UK standards.

Don’t let them take a step back for animal welfare!

Take action now:

Will you pledge to reduce the number of lab animals in the UK who experience severe suffering

Take our pledge.
