Planning permission and farming

Due to recent planning applications for large-scale or 'mega farms' such as Nocton Dairy and Foston pig farm, there has been a groundswell of concern about the growth of large farms in the UK and a fear that larger farms automatically mean lower animal welfare standards.

While we understand these concerns, we would like to reassure people that the current scientific evidence and practical experience shows that the size of a farm is not necessarily linked to the level of welfare to be found on that farm.
