Demand for better animal welfare standards for hospital food

We’re supporting the Campaign for Better Hospital Food which is calling for mandatory standards to guarantee that hospitals buy only chicken, pig meat and cage-free eggs which meet RSPCA welfare standards.

Meat, dairy products and eggs bought by hospitals in England affect the lives of millions of animals. 

The Campaign for Better Hospital Food is also calling for other ethical, nutritional and environmental standards for hospital food in England to ensure it: 
 

• supports animal welfare
• is high quality
• is healthy to eat
• is produced without damaging the planet
• provides a fair deal for producers, both in the UK and abroad
