Poppy
A lot of animals who come into our care come from unpleasant backgrounds, however after some care and rehabilitation they are able to find their forever home with the life they deserve.
Poppy is a key example of this when she came into the care of our Leybourne Animal Centre. Poppy is a pointer cross and with her brother were kept on a balcony in a wire crate. The flat was occupied by heroin dealers and the purpose of the dogs was to breed to make money.
Thankfully for Poppy they were reported by a member of the public and we were able to take her in. After an initial health check it was discovered that she had bite wounds on her neck, head, ears and tail. However after several months of care she was on the mend.
After the trial Poppy was available for rehoming and was adopted by Ms Carver. After an initial walk together in the centres exercise area, Ms Carver said that she was fine with her, but hated to be near other dogs.
She settled in from the first afternoon....she has a beautiful temperament with people.
Still a problem with other dogs and gets nervous when near to them, but I am working on that.
Poppy has done so much more for my life than I have done for her and I hope that we have many years to come of this wonderful relationship.
