Midnight
Midnight was abandoned in the reception area of our Southall Cattery in June.
Midnight was just four years old and yet weighed in at a staggering 10.5 kilograms, more than twice the size of the average cat. Some of his fur was badly matted because he was so overweight he could not wash himself properly.
Pet obesity can cause all kinds of suffering to pets, and can shorten their life expectancy – it’s a serious issue.
Midnight's light at the end of the tunnel
Midnight now has a new family who are helping him to lose weight and become a more active cat. He's already down to 9.5 kilograms!
This lucky cat has been adopted by lorry driver Paul Gallagher, his wife Surjit, and their daughters, who are feeding Midnight diet cat food and weighing him regularly to make sure he continues to slim down.
Here’s what Surjit has to say about the latest edition to their family:
Midnight has settled in well and has become quite an active cat - he jumps on the worktops and runs up the stairs.
We don't even have any problems with him trying to steal our food when we're eating - in fact when we're having our dinner he just curls up on the sofa and goes to sleep with our other cat, Monty.
Could you rehome a cat?
Our Southall Cattery in Greater London can house over 100 animals at any one time and are always looking to find potential owners for the cats in their care.
Many of our other centres have cats available for rehoming too! You can find them using our pet search.
