Lockwood Centre For Horses & Donkeys

Adoption

Adopt a Lockwood donkey, a great way to support our gorgeous donkeys and give an unusual gift to an animal lover.

From just £24 per year (or £2 a month) the adopter receives a fantastic adoption pack, which includes:

  • a certificate of adoption
  • a photo of the adopted donkey
  • plus a special 'thank you' gift.

And twice a year the adopter will receive our newsletter, Hoof prints, with an update on the adopted donkey.

Meet the adoption scheme donkeys!

By adopting one of these donkeys, you'll be helping to look after them and the many elderly and sick donkeys, horses and ponies who live at Lockwood Centre for Horses and Donkeys.

Milo, Rascal and Tufty

We're Lockwood's youngest and cutest addititions. Even though we're little, we're definitely developing big personalities and hope to keep everyone on their toes (or hooves) in the future!

I'm one of the babies of the bunch and was quite shy when I arrived at the centre. Since I've been here I've made loads of friends and have blossomed - now I'm really starting to come out of my shell.

I arrived at Lockwood Centre for Horses and Donkeys in 2008. As you can see I'm a fine looking lad, and I think the others may be jealous of all the attention I get! I've been told that I am a cheeky boy, and I love being cuddled.

As abandoned donkeys, life wasn't great for us in the past, but then the RSPCA rescued us and now we're happy, healthy boys. We love to play tricks and we've been known to steal the grooms' equipment when they're mucking us out. Most of the day we spend our time running around the field together, especially if there's a Frisbee involved!

I've been told that because of my dashing good looks, I'm the Brad Pitt of the donkey world! Everyone wants a cuddle with me, but I don't just give them out to anyone - I do have a girlfriend you know.

When my lifelong companion died in 2007 I went to Lockwood Dentre for Horses and Donkeys. I arrived on Friday the 13th, which proved to be a very lucky day for me! To help take the pressure off my front legs I have to wear special shoes, but that doesn't stop me being an escape artist and making straight to the feed room for extra munchies.
