Farmed Fish | RSPCA - RSPCA
We're doing everything we can to ensure that all farmed fish are reared to high standards of animal welfare and transported and slaughtered humanely.
We believe that fish probably do have the mental capacity to feel pain and suffer, and that their welfare should be safeguarded in the same way as any other farmed animal. There's increasing evidence that fish in general are more intelligent than many people think. In scientific studies, it's been shown that many fish species:
- Have good memories
- Are capable of learning and remembering fairly complicated tasks
- Can learn from the actions of other fish
