Celebrating Our Amazing Volunteers | RSPCA - RSPCA
Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering.
We know that what our volunteers do to help us achieve our common goals is simply amazing. This June we want to put the spotlight on what our volunteers do and celebrate their dedication to helping animals. We believe in offering volunteering opportunities for all, and we look forward to working with our existing volunteers and our future volunteers for many years to come.
A special thank you to all our volunteers
Chris Packham, our President, is here to say a special thank you to all volunteers.
Here are a few words of thanks from our Executive team:
Thank you to all our amazing volunteers - we really appreciate the time, dedication and support you show to the RSPCA and animal welfare.
Thank you, Chris Sherwood, Chief Executive
Our volunteers are the animal welfare heroes of our movement, thank you for everything you do for the animals and give to the organisation.
Emma Slawinski, Director of Advocacy and Policy
Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who give up their free time to support the great work of the RSPCA - we wouldn't be the fabulous organisation we are without you.
John Kerslake, Chief Operating Officer
By 2030 we plan to have 1 million animal champions supporting our work
Our current volunteers are motivated by all sorts of different reasons to give their time to us but they're all united in their commitment to improving the lives of animals. Busy members of staff rely on volunteers to provide much needed support and to patiently build trusting relationships with the animals in our care.
Some of our volunteers support our work in other ways, helping out with fundraising, office tasks and giving their expertise and professional skills for free.
What our volunteers have to say
One of our volunteer veterinary nurse students shares their volunteering story at Mallydams Wildlife Hospital.

Volunteering around a busy schedule
One of our more recent pioneering projects has been the recruitment of thousands of 'microvolunteers' to share campaigning messages and complete mini 'tasks', mostly on social media. This has enabled people to directly support our work to give all animals a voice. It also means people who might otherwise struggle to find the time to commit to a regular volunteering role at an animal centre can still get involved.
Recently our strategic campaigns and policy advisor, Heidi Allen, talked to some of our incredible microvolunteers about how they work and what it's like volunteering this way.
Want to join our team of volunteers?
Volunteers make a huge contribution to the work we do to prevent cruelty, promote kindness to and alleviate the suffering of animals.
We have a wide range of volunteering roles available across our branches and animal and wildlife centres, we're certain you'll find an opportunity near you you'll like.
What can I do?
All volunteer roles have a significant impact on animal welfare. Take a look at the opportunities we have available.
