Statement on Sky News abattoir footage

We have launched an immediate investigation into footage obtained by Sky News showing shocking allegations of cruelty at a slaughterhouse in Essex.

The footage shown is extremely disturbing and strengthens our call for CCTV to be installed in all abattoirs across the country, to help facilitate more effective monitoring in slaughterhouses.

 

As enquiries are now ongoing it is not appropriate for us to comment further at this time.
