Over 100 million animals worldwide are used for medicine, research and testing each year. In the UK, there are laws in place that allow lab animal use.

Move towards non-animal alternatives

There's been promising recent progress in developing humane alternatives to many animal experiments. But this isn't happening anywhere near fast enough.

We want to see all lab animal use replaced with non-animal methods.

The UK Government should lead the way

We're calling on governments and those involved with lab animals to:

• Agree that phasing out the use of lab animals is a desirable goal
• Show leadership and commitment to achieving this with clear plans

Over 77% of UK adults agree that the UK Government should commit to phasing out the use of animals in scientific research and testing.
