Berlioz came back from the brink
We rescued this four-month-old kitten after the police received a call saying Berlioz was being abused. We were too late to save one kitten, but we rushed Berlioz to our Newbrook Farm Animal Centre for urgent care.
We tested Berlioz’s blood and x-rayed him, and we carried out a post-mortem on his brother's body – it was clear they’d both been physically abused, repeatedly. We put Berlioz on anti-inflammatory medication and pain relief, then we gave him flea and worm treatment. Berlioz was bright and alert but not playful like a kitten should be. He was more scared than curious.
Animals are so often the hidden victims of domestic violence
Somewhere safe to heal
Berlioz was fostered by RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer, Jonny Wood. Jonny and his family gave Berlioz support and the perfect space for him to recover from his injuries. In fact, they loved having Berlioz so much they adopted him.
Sadly, many more animals will likely go through terrible abuse this summer. And for every animal like Berlioz who survives and lives a happy life, there’ll be one who doesn’t. We’re dedicated to creating a better world for every animal. But to do that, we need your support Donate now to give more animals a chance at a happy ending.

Berlioz is fully recovered
Berlioz has made lots of friends, including the family dog, Jess. ”They play together all the time,” says Jonny. Berlioz is loved and safe thanks to supporters like you and the guilty party has been brought to justice. Please donate today to help us protect more animals this summer.
