An urgent rescue
It’s a miracle Nova survived
When Animal Rescue Officer John Woods first set eyes on Nova, she was a painfully thin puppy, lying motionless in a corner of the kitchen. She was breathing, but only just. He rushed Nova to a vet, who placed her on heat pads and gave her fluids. With round-the-clock care she began to lift her head.
A few days later she was standing and wagging her tail. We found her a foster home, where she made an amazing recovery and was ready for a fresh start. “She’s brought real happiness to my life,” says new owner, Libby. “Watching her grow stronger and more confident has been so lovely to see.”
IN NEED OF RESCUE
Nova was cold and limp, likely hours away from dying. A staff member said it was “the worst case” they’d seen.
A LOVING NEW HOME
Our West Norfolk Branch found her a new home. Every day is an adventure: Nova’s seen snow for the first time and loves the beach.
Give back to animals
Reports of animal neglect are up 26%*
Animals are remarkable: they offer us unconditional love and bring joy into our lives every day.
But during the coldest months, more cats and dogs are neglected and abandoned than any other time of the year. Dogs like Nova, who would have died without urgent help, are depending on us right now for survival.
We’ll never give up on animals who need us, but our rescue teams and centres are stretched. As a charity, the RSPCA is independent of government. We rely on public donations to rescue animals in desperate need. Together, we can help more animals survive, heal and get a second chance at a life full of love.
Will you donate £3 a month and give back to animals this winter?

Your gift will save lives
We take more than 300 calls a day about abandonment and neglect**. Urgent rescues, vital vet treatments, specialist behavioural training, and everyday care – it's all possible thanks to the support of our donors.
When you donate, you become part of our team taking action for animals. You stand beside the vet treating a dog in pain. You support the volunteer who sits patiently with a frightened animal, day after day.
