DESMOND AND VERA ARE LOOKING FOR A HOME TOGETHER.

Vera is our lovely egg laying hen, she is very sweet and intelligent and definitely rules the roost. Desmond, our Malay, is an active boy who is very bonded with Vera and can be protective of her, he always lets her get the food first!

These two love foraging in our enclosed grassy area and run around their pen looking food. These two are familiar with some of our volunteers who come and give their favourite treats, tomatoes and cucumber. When they hear these volunteers' voices this pair come running over from one side of the pen to the other! They are very cute and clever birds.

These two do not cope well with confinement so we would want them to be able to continue free roaming in their new home, but shut away at night for safety. They are not good fliers and although may hop on our fence for fun, they never leave their enclosure.

They are not usually affectionate although good to handle, but are not generally recommended for young children to keep as pets. These two are looking for a home of their own as do not mix well with other hens, but they have shared their enclosure with other animals here at the centre, ducks, goats and more.
