About Me

Breed: Duck
Colour: Black - Green
Age: 2 Years (approx)
Ref: 247322

These gorgeous male ducks were subject of an RSPCA investigation as their welfare was compromised. When they arrived here, they were very underweight and skinny. They are now fully recovered and we are looking for a committed, long-term home for them.

They are calm, docile and friendly boys who will make wonderful pets. Do not be surprised if they follow you around as they are very sociable!

They are Cayugas and can live a long time, so please consider this when deciding if they are the right breed for you. Their normal life span is about ten years. Although classified as a ' heavy ' duck breed, they can fly short distances if needed.

They are quite hardy ducks and do well in both hot and cold climates but do require a shelter or coop where they can rest and shelter from extreme conditions, and also where they can be shut away at night to avoid the risk of predation.

These ducks do not go on our pond so a floating shelter is not adequate to keep them safe. They do not need a pond to thrive - as long as they have access to clean water that would be fine but if this is the case, they must have enough wild grass area to enable them to move around, exercise and forage for food.

With regard to diet and feeding, they prefer to forage and adore greens, spinach as well as corn, mash and pellets. We tend to sprinkle food on the grass as they are natural foragers and prefer to eat that well.

If you meet all of the above rehoming criteria, please complete this Online Application Form.
