About Me

Breed: Pointer
Colour: White - Ginger
Age: 1 Year (approx)
Ref: 263786

Young full of life Winston came to us after his owner could no longer keep him, Winton was underweight when he came in, but he is steadily putting on weight and is now ready to find his new home.

Being an English Pointer Winston is high energy and bouncy and has a strong working drive so he needs an owner who has had experience in owning Pointers before. Winston does not have much basic training at all, so he will need an owner who knows how to train and mentally stimulate him.

Winston is an active boy so is looking for an active family to match. He will need plenty of mental and physical stimulation with activities that will suit his breed characteristics. Due to his lively nature he is best in a home with older secondary school age children. Winston would benefit from training classes with his new family to help him build a bond with them and to encourage him to have more focus. He does find concentrating difficult so his new family will need to have patience to help him overcome this. He will need his own, private, enclosed garden with 6ft fencing for off lead games and training.

Winston loves the company of other dogs but can be very excitable and bouncy around them. He has not lived with dogs before. He could possibly live with another dog but is not vital. This would really depend on the other dog, the home set and introductions here at Millbrook.

In his previous home Winston was house trained and travelled well in the car. He can be a little hesitant jumping into a car so may need help with this in the future. Winston may also need a refresher in housetraining whilst he settles into his new home. He has been left for short periods of time in his last home but due to his active nature it is best that he has someone based at home a good part of the day at first when settling in with his new family. Time he is left will need to be increased slowly over time. He enjoys eating from Kongs and activity feeders so this will help with settle down time and keeping him occupied.

Winston is looking for a calm home with an owner that has plenty of time to spend with him. He can be strong on the lead, so he will need an owner that can physically hold him and give him the exercise and mental stimulation he needs.

Please do only apply if you have had Pointers before as Winston is looking for a specific home.
