Caring for Animals in the local area

Action-Centred Animal Welfare

Our mission is simple: to promote kindness and stop cruelty. We are the hands-on force for animal welfare in our community.

We achieve this through four core commitments:

●        Rescue and Rehoming: We save unwanted, abandoned, and mistreated pets, providing expert veterinary care, rehabilitation, and tirelessly finding them loving, permanent homes.

●        Preventative Care & Support: We run a subsidised clinic to provide essential treatments, vaccinations, neutering, and microchipping, for those families on low incomes - ensuring pet ownership is accessible and responsible for all in our area.

●        Education & Intervention: We actively work to prevent suffering by educating the public and intervening in cases of neglect, striving to ensure all animals lead lives free from harm.

●        Promoting Responsible Ownership: We empower pet owners with the knowledge, resources, and crucial services like neutering and microchipping to give their companions the best possible life.

Every action we take—from a life-saving surgery to a successful rehoming—is a testament to our profound commitment to alleviate suffering. Our work is entirely funded by our local community, and every penny goes directly into animal care.

A significant number of animals coming into our care are not microchipped or neutered and we continue to promote both procedures to ensure responsible ownership.

We rehome animals to people who have been assessed as able to provide a suitable home, preferably within a reasonable distance of the Branch in order that we can monitor the success of the adoption.

Our policy to charge a reasonable adoption fee for animals highlights the ongoing personal and financial commitment of pet ownership. It would not be in the best interests of animals, and therefore our objects, to rehome to those who could not afford their care.

Unfortunately, we are seeing many more new clients coming to our clinic. We have continued to employ part-time vets to keep the clinic open Monday - Friday each week.

We raise funds through legacies and donations, operating charity shops, running fund raising events, rehoming fees, and maintaining the value of the Charity's investments. Income generation remains our biggest challenge, and demand for our resources grows year on year.

Shops

We currently have two shops, one in Crescent Parade Hillingdon, and one in Station Parade in Denham. Staff and volunteers run both shops. These charity shops raise most of the essential funds we need to deliver our animal welfare work.

Gift Aid - we would love any donors who are UK taxpayers to sign up for Gift Aid when they bring donated goods into us, as we can claim an extra 25p for each £1 from the government. This can make a big difference!

Supporting our shops not only means you will be getting great goods at excellent prices, but it also means you are supporting local animal welfare. The shops accept donations including clothing, shoes, linens, toys and bric-a-brac. We can also accept some small furniture items by prior arrangement.

Rehoming Centre

Our rehoming centre is near Denham, and it rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes dogs, cats and small furries that it takes in free of charge from the branch area.

Our animals come from the RSPCA inspectorate and mistreated or abandoned animals including pets whose owners suffer ill health, financial difficulties or pass away. Many have had a difficult time, and our aim is to ensure that their next home is a loving one for life.

Adopting a rescue animal can be hugely rewarding, but as part of our adoption process we do need to highlight that pet ownership takes time, money, commitment, and often patience.

Animals available for adoption are shown on our website, but you should be aware that we are constantly looking for new forever homes and whilst we update regularly, a particular animal you see on the site may already be in the process of being reserved or may be unsuitable for your needs. However, we will always do our best to help you find the right companion.

Any viewings will be strictly by appointment only.
