About Me

Breed: Greyhound crossbreed
Colour: Black
Age: 2 Years (approx)
Ref: 264856

This is our beautiful gentle giant, Charlie.
He is a lovely (and very tall!) rising 3yr old Greyhound.
Charlie was found straying, lost and alone at only 6 months old, so we do not know very much about his early life. Since then, Charlie has been cared for in kennels where he has been supported to build his confidence and learn about the world around him. It is safe to say Charlie is a big favourite with staff here and we have all fallen in love with his kind and friendly nature.

Charlie is an incredibly gentle soul and despite being a big boy, he is polite and careful, knowing exactly how to behave around people and other dogs. Charlie is at his happiest gallivanting around with other large breed dogs and sighthounds but he also walks beautifully on the lead with his friends during our lane walks.

After zooming around in our fields, Charlie loves nothing more than curling up on his bed and watching the world go by. He absolutely loves a cuddle too and we can just imagine him making himself right at home in his own cosy corner, or on the sofa with you if he is allowed!

Charlie is incredibly clean in his kennel and not destructive. We believe he will transition well into his new home but please keep in mind that dogs can take time to settle and get used to your routine. Charlie would like someone at home most of the time initially so any time alone can be built up gradually.

Charlie does have a high prey drive, so he cannot live with any small animals, cats or little dogs, but he could live with a dog of a similar size following a successful meet at the Centre.

Charlie is a really special boy and we can't wait for him to find his forever home. If you think the lovely Charlie could be the boy for you, please send in an application with some details about your lifestyle and experience if you think he may be the one for you.
If you meet all of the above rehoming criteria, please complete this Online Application Form.
It is really useful if you can please include lots of information on the type of home you can offer and your previous experience of dogs.

If you are interested in adopting an animal from West Hatch RSPCA, please have a look on "Find a Pet" in the first instance. Once you have seen an animal you are interested in, you can apply easily online via the link to a google form at the bottom of their profile. Once we receive the application, it will be reviewed by a member of staff, and if you are a suitable match we will then make contact to discuss the animal further. This will be either by email initially or by phone. We will then ask you to email us photos of your home and garden, as well as ID. This continues to replace the homevisit that we would have carried out pre-covid. We can then make an appointment for you to come to the centre to meet your chosen animal before you commit to adoption.
