Greater Manchester Animal Hospital

Half Marathon Fundraising

A team of seven vets, nurses and hospital assistants are raising money for the RSPCA Greater Manchester Animal Hospital running a Half Marathon on 16th July 2017. You can support us by donating via our just giving page here.

GMAH is the busiest companion animal hospital within the RSPCA, with a large team of staff working tirelessly to help improve the health and welfare of the dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets that come into our care. In 2016, the hospital treated over 22,000 outpatients and almost 8,000 inpatients. We treat public animals but also provide veterinary support to the inspectorate. Although many of the animals that we treat have been subjected to cruelty or neglect, we also care for injured strays and unwanted pets and prepare them for the rehoming process.

We have decided to run this race because it is a great opportunity for us to raise money for our fantastic hospital and the patients that we look after. The 13.1 mile race will definitely be a challenge for all involved- most of us could not run even 2 miles before training started!

With the money raised we would like to buy equipment to improve the comfort and quality of care that we can offer to our patients. For example, £500 will allow us to purchase a Bair Hugger™ warming system to help prevent hypothermia in a our patients during and after surgery. Other items such as a blood pressure monitor, enrichment materials for our cat and rabbit kennels, ear thermometers and comfortable mattresses would make a big difference to our patients.

We really appreciate any donation, no matter how big or small. All of the money raised will be used in helping the animals at the hospital, both present and future.

Thank you for your time and generosity,

Rosa, David, Jodie, Bertie, Ben, Emma and Faye
