Disadvantaged young people
Showing kindness to disadvantaged young people
A difficult start in life can lead to years of behavioural issues and suffering. We know this can be true for both animals and people.
The programmes below help them to overcome the challenges they face. Promoting positive social interaction and self-esteem through interacting with and understanding the needs of animals.
Ultimately these programmes will help prepare young people, who haven't had the greatest start in life, for the life ahead - helping to create a generation of kind and empathetic people.
Animal care apprenticeships
Offering promising young people from disadvantaged backgrounds a chance to pursue a career helping animals.
Wild Things
Giving young people from deprived areas access to nature and animals in ways that may not have otherwise been possible.
Animal action days
Children and carers visit our animal centres to meet the very special animals we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome and learn more about caring for animals.
Paws 4 Change
Matching young people suffering from low self-esteem, or having problems with impulse control, with a rescue dog chosen specifically for them.
