JIM JAMS

About Me

Breed: Domestic Shorthair crossbreed
Colour: Black and white
Age: 5 Years (approx)

Poor Jim Jams has been in the wars.

Unwanted by his original owners, he was passed on to someone else who also didn't want him and he was set adrift, wandering the neighbourhood in search of food, constantly getting into fights. A couple took pity on him and started feeding him, but he was being attacked by neighbouring cats so, in desperation and concern at his plight, they contacted us.

Jim Jams came in with a huge, infected abscess on his neck and a broken tooth. Both were treated, and then he developed a secondary infection following his dental extraction, resulting in a very long course of antibiotics.

He was hiding away in his bed constantly, and was not making any positive progress in the cattery, so we enlisted one of our wonderful fosterers, and he is making huge strides already-the same day he was sitting on her lap (see photos below)!!

This has become a nightly routine, and he no longer hides away, preferring to stretch out and relax.

He is still quite nervous of loud noises and sudden movements, and will run and hide until he knows he is safe. Sadly, his fosterer believes that he has previously been hit and had things thrown at him as he cowers or runs if a toy is thrown towards him, and he is particularly fearful of the litter scoop.

He is a chatty boy who has discovered the joys of playing (he is especially chatty when he wants to play!) and he has found his purr as he enjoys being stroked. He's even amenable to be brushed when he's in the mood!

We think he would be best suited to a home where he is the only cat, in light of his past and definitely no young children.

If you would like to know more and/or register your interest in offering this poor boy, who has been through such hardship, his much-deserved forever home, please complete our online form: Perfect Match Form CATS

My personality

  • I'd prefer to be the only cat in a home
  • I need to be able to go outside and explore
  • I'd prefer an adult only household
  • I'm a shy guy; I'll need time to settle
  • I may be able to live with a friendly dog
