National Pet Month

#NationalPetMonth: April 1- May 3 2021

National Pet Month (NPM) celebrates and raises awareness of responsible pet ownership through  educational campaigns and resources across our various platforms. NPM celebrates pet ownership, sharing the many benefits of our cherished companions across the UK.

Whilst the #NationalPetMonth campaign runs from April to May each year via various media outlets, the important messages that NPM endorses run all year-round.

Introducing a new rescue pet to your home will be exciting, rewarding and, at times, challenging, it may take quite a while for your new animal to settle into life with you, but don’t worry – a lot of people encounter some tricky bits with their new animal and remember you are not alone – we are here to help!

Pets can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and even improve your health!  Caring for an animal can help children grow up more secure and active.   Pets also provide valuable companionship for older adults.   A pet can add real joy and unconditional love to your life.

However, pet ownership is also a serious commitment with many important duties to consider that may not be immediately apparent – responsible pet ownership consists of more than simply feeding and playing with your pet.   Anyone considering re-homing a pet should ensure that they can provide for all the welfare needs before taking on the responsibility.

Why not see who is looking for a home right now then speak to Louise, our rehoming coordinator to find out more. Louise is available between 9:30-4:30pm Thursday & Friday or 9:30 - 12 noon Saturday.
