About Me

Breed: Domestic Shorthair crossbreed
Colour: Black & White
Age: 3 Years (approx)
Ref: 261974

Meet our handsome guy Steve!

Sadly, Steve did not have the best start to his life having been confined to life in a room in an unsanitary state. On arrival Steve was very skinny, very dishevelled and unkempt in appearance, however with some much needed nutrition and TLC he has gained weight nicely and his overall condition is improving. We felt Steve would benefit from being fostered in a home environment, through video footage he feels comfortable enough to investigate the home and is very playful with toys. Steve at this moment in time does not feel comfortable with physical hands on touch, however with a bit of time and patience his fosterers have been able to engage in play with him and he has a few times got up on the bed when they are around and has even started to meow hello when breakfast time and investigate more of the house. He is progressing and gaining confidence day by day but it has taken many weeks for Steve to feel able to do this.

We feel that in the right home environment, with adopters who are happy to take a hands off approach, Steve will start to gain trust in humans. Steve still has a lot to live for but he may just not be a super sociable cat. We are looking for an adult only home with no dogs, a social female cat could be possible. It will be important that Steve is given his own safe and secure room with plenty of hidey dens to settle and adjust away from the normal day to day activity and is given a few months to progress with his adopters before being introduced to an existing cat.

We do not know if previous to how Steve was found whether he had any outside access, we do think that in time and once a more positive and established bond is made that he will be able to have outside access via a cat flap. With the nature and behaviour of a cat like Steve a cat flap would be a must so that he can leave and come back as he wishes and a rural area away from built up areas and busy roads would be the best environment for him and from a safety aspect.
If you meet all of the above rehoming criteria, please complete this Online Application Form.
