A long road to recovery begins…This young female seal (named Doughnut) arrived into our care at RSPCA East Winch today after being rescued by the FoHS team at Horsey.She had become severely entangled in a mass of netting, twine, fishing hooks and metal.

Shockingly, the entanglement alone weighed around 4kg.She is now safely with our team, but she is in a delicate state. Her wound is dreadful, and the coming days are going to be incredibly important. Our veterinary and wildlife teams will be keeping a very close eye on her as we treat her injuries, keep her comfortable and help her regain her strength.We really hope she makes it. If she does, this won't be a quick recovery. She is likely to need months of specialist treatment, rehabilitation, food and care before we can even begin thinking about the day we hope to see her return to the wild. Wildlife rehabilitation on this scale is a costly business, and we are incredibly grateful for every bit of support we receive.We are pleased to say that the money raised at our recent market will go towards her care, helping us provide everything she needs during the months ahead.If you would like to help support her rehabilitation and the other wildlife in our care, our JustGiving page is in the comments below.
