Fostering: Transforming Lives for Animals and Children in Hull

This May, we’re proud to take part in Foster Care Fortnight — a national celebration of fostering and the incredible people who make it possible. From 12th to 25th May, we are joining the call to shine a light on the power of fostering — not just for animals, but for children too.

At RSPCA Hull & East Riding, we see every day how fostering transforms lives. Some of our most dedicated foster carers are our own staff and volunteers, who open their homes to cats and dogs needing a little extra time, love, and care before they’re ready for adoption. And we’re thrilled to offer this opportunity to the wider public — whether you can help for a few weeks, a few months, or longer, fostering is a flexible and deeply rewarding way to make a difference. We’ll provide the food, bedding, vet care, and support — you provide the love.

But it’s not just animals who need us — right now, Hull Fostering is asking for your help to support some of the most vulnerable children in our community.

Hull has one of the highest populations of looked-after children in the country, and there’s an urgent need for local people to step forward. Whether you can offer weekend respite, short-term care, or a long-term home, there’s a fostering option to fit around your life. You don’t need to be a superhero — just someone with a spare room and a caring heart. Hull Fostering will support you every step of the way and work with your employer to help you balance work and fostering.

By working together, we can make Hull a place where both animals and children find safety, love, and a fresh start.
