Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District Branch
The RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District Branch is a self-funding branch of the RSPCA responsible for raising money locally to support our animal welfare work.
Every regional RSPCA branch is different but at Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District we do several things which we believe set us apart as a branch. Firstly, we operate a strict ‘non-destruction policy’, meaning we will never put a healthy animal down. The majority of animals we take in come from the RSPCA National Society Inspectors and have been rescued in the region.
Once an animal is safely in our care, we do all we can to rehabilitate them and help them to find their perfect forever homes. Further to our non-destruction policy, for more than 15 years we have operated our Elderly Animal Rehoming Scheme, whereby we incentivise the adoption of older animals, helping them to secure new homes as soon as possible. This includes reduced adoption fees and free or heavily discounted treatment for the remainder of the animals’ life. Finally, our Willing to Care initiative encourages members of the public to leave their animals to us in their Wills.
With an excellent team of behaviour experts, we also work with the animals in our care to prepare them for rehoming. This is something which many animal charities struggle to provide but can save the lives of some dogs who would otherwise be unsuitable for rehoming. With some of our complex cases, this includes providing continued support for the new owners at no cost.
There are many ways you can help our branch to keep doing the important work we do; from donating money directly to our branch, to donating items for our charity shops or even sparing a few hours to volunteer with us. Visit our website to find out more!
