Current volunteering vacancies as at 12th June 2020
We rely on our volunteers and couldn't help animals in our local area without them so please check our current vacancies list.
We are looking to develop our eBay Charity shop in order to maximise profits gained from donations kindly received from our supporters. If you would be interested in becoming a volunteer in this fun and exciting area then please do get in touch.
Ideally we are looking for someone to provide assistance with the research and photography of items donated to our branch shop by our supporters. Listing items for sale on eBay and, hopefully, the subsequent packaging and posting of items successfully sold.
You will need a good working knowledge of computers, including use of Microsoft World and search engines is a must as is previous experience of using eBay to buy and sell. Ideally you will have an interest or knowledge in clothing, books, antiques and curios but more importantly a willingness to research items in order to help us decide where donations should be sold in order to maximise the value of donated items.
As this is a new venture and likely to require time in between the listing and posting / packaging of sale items we will be open to discussing availability with interested volunteers. A long-term commitment of a minimum of 6 months is preferred due to the training requirements.
We're looking for people with friendly and cheerful personalities who enjoy working as a team and interacting with the general public. This is a great opportunity to do something worthwhile to help local animals in need and learn new skills or improve existing ones.
As a charity shop volunteer you can help us in lots of different ways. You could be serving our customers on the shop floor by helping them find their perfect purchase and processing sales through the till and card machine. You may also help in the stock room by sorting through donated items and preparing them for sale. Alternatively, you could help showcasing stock on the shop floor and creating fantastic window displays. We’re always busy and being prepared to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in is essential but so is having fun at the same time. Every day is different as is every bag or box of donations, meaning it’s never dull or boring! If this sounds like the role for you then contact us now!
If you volunteer on the shop floor you'll be handling cash and processing sales (including signing people up for Gift Aid) so good numeracy skills are essential. Whilst previous retail experience would be advantageous it is not required, all training will be provided. All we ask is that you are willing, friendly and polite!
Ideally, we'd like you to commit to at least one morning or afternoon per week, Monday to Saturday either 9.30am to 1pm or 1pm to 4.30pm. A long-term commitment of a minimum of 6 months is preferred due to the training requirements.
Do you have time to spare and the ability to drive and load a vehicle with small to medium size items? Are you passionate about animal welfare? The RSPCA Basingstoke and Andover branch are looking for a volunteer delivery driver. If you enjoy getting out and meeting new people then this would be an excellent fit for you. Volunteers would be able to make use of the shop van or their own vehicle if preferred.
You will collect donations from supporter’s homes or businesses and deliver to our shop. Donations can vary from furniture through to bric-a-brac so you will need to be physically fit due to lifting and carrying out of the vehicle. In addition you’ll need to ensure you keep accurate records of collections / deliveries and adopt safe manual handling techniques. No mechanical experience is required but if using the shop van, performing daily basic vehicle checks and reporting defects will be required.
If this sounds like the role for you, then contact us now!
A good local knowledge would be beneficial but a valid, full driving license is a must. Whilst we have a shop van you may prefer to use your own vehicle.
