Peanut's a gem

UPDATE: Peanut has now been rehomed and is happily settled with her adopters! They adore her and said they couldn't wish for a better dog.

March 2014

Last week we had a call from one of our Inspectors about a dog that he, along with the Fire Service, had rescued from the bottom of a 10ft hole on wasteland. Passersby had heard the cries of the dog and contacted the RSPCA.

When the Inspector arrived it became clear that he would need to assistance of the Fire Service to help to get the dog, who turned out to be a severely matted Yorkshire Terrier, out.

Luckily she wasn't found to have any injuries, apart from a possible injury to one of her legs. It is possible that she fell down the hole herself, however it does seem unlikely as the area she found herself in is quite desolate and difficult to get to.

We all fell head-over-heels for her at the Centre and we named her Peanut. She is such a loveable, sweet and friendly girl who just wants love! One of our volunteers groomed her for us and she looked like a completely different dog once she came back. Then she was ready for her star turn - BBC News wanted to film her. You can see the article they produced here.

After the drama of they day, all Peanut wanted was to do was relax so we sent her to one of our dedicated foster homes, where she quickly became firm friends with their dog. She will soon be ready for adoption and we can't wait to find her a loving home where she never has to worry about being abandoned again.
