In the early 1990’s Richard went along to help his wife volunteer at RSPCA North Northumberland branch and never looked back! Helping out with everything from rehoming a dog, home visiting, fundraising and cat rescuing Richard became a vital part of the branch and eventually took on the role of chairman.
Prior to joining the RSPCA Richard spent more than 20 years in HM Forces before moving on to a career in telecommunications as a senior manager and, later, a director.
When work commitments resulted in a move to Worcestershire, Richard and his wife joined the local branch there in the early Nineties. In October 2016 his branch’s long-held dream to open a rescue and rehoming centre came true and work to expand this on this is ongoing. In 2017 he became regional representative for the West Midlands on the national council.
When he does have spare time Richard likes to relax by camping, and going ‘off the grid’. He has walked the Sahara to raise funds for his branch and has helped to trap and neuter feral cats in the Canaries as part of the work done by the Kismet Account.
