Mike spent 25 years of his working life in manufacturing, where he was co-owner of a small company, building it into a major supplier to the printed circuit board manufacturing industry.
Mike started as a volunteer for his local RSPCA branch and soon became a committee member and branch treasurer. The branch ran a large animal centre which needed a complete redevelopment and a major fundraising project was launched. Mike was part of this major project over two decades which replaced all the facilities and increased animal welfare operations in the area.
Mike joined the national RSPCA in 1986 and was elected to the Council in 1993 serving as Chairman, Vice Chairman, Deputy Treasurer. Mike even took early retirement to devote more time to national and branch activities.
In his spare time he enjoys taking his own RSPCA rescue dog, Ella, for long walks.
