Wobbles the wobbly mog wishing for new home

A ‘wobbly’ cat with a neurological condition and a huge personality is looking to find his forever home (video at the bottom).

Wobbles, a four-year-old long haired cat, came into our care after he'd been living in a garden shed. His previous owner moved him outside as as he didn't get along with children.

The tabby found life in the shed very stressful and so he came into our South Godstone Animal Centre in Surrey in December 2017.

What causes Wobbles to wobble?

Aptly named Wobbles, he suffers from a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) which means that he experiences head tremors and has problems with his balance.

Cerebellar Hypoplasia is a non-progressive, non-contagious neurological condition that results in walking, balance and coordination problems.

Their life expectancy is the same as a cat without CH and they can still be very active like other cats.

Wobbles will need to be an indoor cat

Elizabeth Forbes-Dale, our cattery supervisor said:

Wobbles is a quirky cat with a huge personality. He's extremely vocal and loves attention so would absolutely love his owners to be around for a good part of the day.

He found it very stressful living in an outdoor shed previously so really deserves a loving and relaxing home with no children or other pets.

Due to his condition, this lovely boy would need to be an indoor cat with short supervised visits to a safe and secure garden.

Wobbles is unaware that he's different to any other cat and so he lives life to the full despite his clumsiness.

Staff describe him as a sweet and mild mannered cat who can be nervous around new people, but loves affection.

His condition has improved incredibly over time

Elizabeth added:

His previous owner said that his condition has improved a lot over time.

Three years ago he wasn’t able to jump from the floor to a chair or catch a soft toy but now he can climb trees and even the garden fence but as he has coordination problems, ideally he'd need to be kept indoors.

Wobbles is one of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet and what he lacks in coordination he makes up for in personality!
