Red breasted Merganser

We have a red breasted Merganser at the centre at the moment. He was found grounded in someone's garden. Mergansers are a diving duck that belong to the sawbill family. They are called this due to their serrated bills that they use for catching fish. They are most commonly seen around the UK coastline in the winter.

The Red Breasted Merganser is doing well and has now progressed to a pool. We are hoping to release him in a couple of days time.
