STANLEY

PLEASE NOTE: We will only rehome Stanley to someone who can provide him with a sizeable controlled outdoor space ideally in the form of a cat-proofed garden. Please DO NOT enquire if you live in a flat and are unable to offer that.  If you are interested in adopting please complete our online form:

Stanley was rescued from the streets as he was found begging for food, had cat flu and a nasty abscess on the side of face, he was an unneutered male and had obviously got himself into a fight in which he had not faired well.

He was taken into the vets by a member of the public who had been feeding him and was bought into rescue.

Due to his life on the street he tested positive for FIV, which means he has to have a restricted lifestyle and he cannot free roam. It does however mean he can still have a lovely life and we are looking for a good sized house with a fully cat proofed garden so he can still enjoy some fresh air as he does love to be outside as you can see from the video. We have done a little bit of fundraising to be able to make a contribution towards the cost of this when we find the right home for him if its not already cat proofed.

You can read more about FIV and exactly what it means here:

So what can we say about Stanley - well quite honestly we think he is the most purrfect cat! He’s a big chunky boy ( all 6.5kg of him) and is playful, chatty and cuddly in equal measures. He’s got so much character and his fosterer is going to find it really difficult to let him go as he’s a heart stealer!

However if you are thinking of adopting Stanley there are a few things you need to know and not be phased by.

Stanley will probably always be a flu carrier and there is a chance he may have the odd flair up under periods of stress or cold and damp conditions. He just needs owners who are experienced enough to recognise the signs of when he might need some support with a course of antibiotics or anti- inflammatories. Whilst this is not generally expensive treatment it won’t be covered by any insurance so his new owners would have to be prepared for this is the need arose.

Being quite young he does have a lot of energy so he does need a home where his new owners will be prepared to give him plenty of play time, and if someone is around for a large part of the day so he has company then thats even better - when he does get over excited he can play bite its infrequent and if you are experienced in recognising the signals of when he’s in ‘devil’ mode lol its very easily avoided, but for this reason we would prefer an adult household (or one with older children) - we also tend to steer away from homes with young children for FIV+ cats as its very hard for children to have to remember about not opening windows and doors as the cat cant be allowed to escape.

Stanley will need to be an only cat in his new home> He’s been in our care now for over 7 months and he just needs a lovely home with safe outdoor space and with people who will invest some time in playing with him

Despite the couple of little ‘caviats’ that come with Stanley we can be positive that any new owner will be totally delighted with him - he really is just a truly lovely little cat who deserves a home which will love him to the moon and back :-)

My personality

  • I'd prefer to be the only cat in a home
  • I need to be able to go outside and explore
  • I could live with children of secondary school age
  • I love company and would like you to be around a good part of the day
  • I would prefer not to live with a dog
