MONTAGUE

PLEASE NOTE: We will only rehome Montague to someone who can provide him with a cat-proofed garden. Please DO NOT enquire if you live in a flat and are unable to offer that - we also like to do our own home visits so our preference is to rehome in and around the West Midlands.  If you are interested in adopting please complete our online form:

Montague really is as adorable as he looks!

He is approx 2-3yrs old and had been straying for at least 12 months. The finders had been keeping an eye on him and had decided they would keep him and contacted us for help with neutering and microchipping him. They also asked if we would test him for FIV/Felv as they already had existing cats.

Sadly his results came back positive for FIV. This doesnt mean huge problems for him as he is a very healthy boy as you can see -but it does mean he has to have a more restrictive lifestyle which made it impossible for him to be in a house with cats who have free access to the outside world so we were asked to help bring him into care.

You can read more about FIV on the link below but it basically means he has a compromised immune system, but many FIV+ cats live just as long lives as normal cats - and often longer as they are not exposed to so many dangers

https://www.catchat.org/index.php/fiv

Monty is a very placid and confident boy - nothing much seems to phase him and he is extremely laid back! we feel he would actually be fine with another laid back FIV+cat - possibly an older cat as he is very much happy doing his own thing and being his own little man - he wouldnt be happy with a young cat jumping all over him.

Being FIV+ he will need to be rehomed with some safe outdoor space so that means someone who is prepared to cat proof their garden - OR put a decent sized catio on the back of their house. We do have some funds raised to make a small contribution towards either of these if the right home is found for him.

He is still young and will need a home who will make time to play with him as he does like company and to have a good run about - he particularly likes to run and jump about after a feather!

Being longhaired he will need regular brushing to keep his coat in good condition, and we would prefer an adult household as its very hard for children to have to remember about not opening windows and doors as the cat cant be allowed to escape.

If you think you have the ideal home for Monty we would love to hear from you

My personality

  • I may be able to live with another cat
  • I need to be able to go outside and explore
  • I could live with children of secondary school age
  • I love company and would like you to be around a good part of the day
  • I would prefer not to live with a dog
